“How many times do I have to
see you, doc?” A conventional question for your Toronto
chiropractor. Chiropractic care at Yorkville Chiropractic and Wellness Centre follows an
evidence-based algorithm of care supported by clinical research
that stretches back to the 1970’s: The Cox® Technic System of
Spinal Pain Management. Newer research confirms the
system and its goals in which Toronto chiropractic patients can find
calm as they heal.
CHIROPRACTIC USE
Toronto chiropractic patients would not
be chiropractic patients if it did not produce beneficial results.
The latest study of who uses
chiropractic was conducted in Malaysia: 35% of Malayasians
utilized chiropractic. Though it was very lower
than traditional and complementary medicine care usage there, it is a good percent!
(1) Approximately 25% of U.S. residents pursued chiropractic
for back and neck pain management. 35
million U.S. adults saw a chiropractor in the past
year. (2) That number is expanding as additional
people pursue and find a non-surgical, conservative
approach to pain relief in chiropractic understanding that it may
take a few visits to get relief. Yorkville Chiropractic and Wellness Centre
is committed to setting a realistic treatment plan for the best possible
outcome.
NEW RESEARCH RESULTS OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE AT 3
MONTHS
Curious about how many chiropractic visits
patients use and the outcomes? A recent study found
that in 1,362 chronic low back pain patients and 1,214 chronic neck pain
patients’ function improved and back and neck pain decreased with
chiropractic care in 90 days. Those who reported
worse pain initially had more chiropractic
visits. Chronic low back pain sufferers with more than one visit a week benefitted more. At 3
months, chronic neck and back pain patients were improving slowly, may have even reached maximum improvement,
and were quite possibly managing their chronic pain using
a range of chiropractic visit frequencies. (3) That is
our goal, too, at Yorkville Chiropractic and Wellness Centre: educate our Toronto back pain and
neck pain patients about how they can help themselves with pain
management and prevention! With Cox®
Technic, 12 visits and 29 days were the mean days and visits to improvement
in a study of 1000 patients. Disc herniations took a bit
longer and required more visits than sprain/strains. (4) Yorkville Chiropractic and Wellness Centre
shares statistics like this to help our chiropractic
patients make realistic expectations.
REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS WITH CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Toronto chronic neck and back
pain patients are realistic. Despite health policy today that seems
to want a cure for whatever is wrong, most chronic
spine pain patients seek pain management that they understand
will necessitate ongoing care rather than “cure” from their chiropractic
care. (5) Cox® Technic implemented at Yorkville Chiropractic and Wellness Centre has always presented
the idea of “control not cure” when it comes to most neck pain
and back pain issues. It resonates with neck pain
and back pain sufferers who have looked
for care from a variety of different healthcare
professionals that they “get” it. The 50% Rule
of Cox® Technic makes sense to them: 50% relief in 30 days or referral for
imaging or other consultation, 50% relief decreases the visit
frequency by 50%, 50% relief changes the treatment from Protocol I to Protocol
II, etc. The chiropractic care system of Cox® Technic follows an established algorithm
that offers patients realistic expectations.
